簡介
The manuscript is the result of a collective effort on the study of religious experience in contemporary Taiwan and China. It is primarily based on data drawn from the Religious Experience Survey in Taiwan (REST) that was conducted from October 2008 to December 2009. It also incorporates the Religious Experience among the Han Chinese (REHC 2004-2006) survey for comparative purposes. The intended book consists of two parts. The first part is a general, chapter-by-chapter presentation of different religious traditions or beliefs in present-day Taiwan. The second part is dedicated to in-depth explorations of specific subjects of religious experiences in Taiwan and China. Together they constitute a coherent whole and aim to investigate the significance of religious experience that, as a theme, has gained increasing importance in the study of religion on the one hand and, on the other, to highlight the similarities and differences this theme manifests in the two Chinese worlds.
