Book Description
Imagine the Earth as having a thin, fragile layer of skin. This is the “Critical Zone,” where all life takes place and interweaves, the zone on which life depends to survive. French philosopher Bruno Latour reminds us that human beings are not observers standing on a high place looking down on the Earth, but are deeply embedded in this network that is formed by rock weathering, microbial activity, water cycles, plant root systems and atmospheric exchanges. The reality of our lives results from the longterm collective effects of nature, technology and practical actions.

Technological devices have extended our vision, affording us insight into the pulse of living systems within the current of time and allowing us to witness how human activity has profoundly permeated, even reshaped, the structure of the Earth's surface. Making use of the perspectives of “quantum entanglement,” the American physicist Karen Barad offers a crucial revelation: When two particles become entangled, they are no longer independent objects, but form a single shared state. It is as if they are two dancers, dancing as one, performing their pirouettes and lifts together. This constantly changing, mutually interconnected symbiosis defines each moment in which we exist.

Informed by the concepts of contemporary museum studies, this exhibition features art projects by contemporary artists and collectives, who ponder how technological progress has not only blurred the lines between the past, present and future, but has
also allowed humanity to understand that we take part with other species and the environment in a relationship of co-creating the world. The exhibition venue also serves as a space for visitor perception and participation, in the hope of facilitating resonance and empathy that foster new ethics and values of sharing, mutual aid and symbiosis.
