Book Description |
"On March 23, 1323, Mongolian princess Sengge Ragi held an elegant gathering at Dadu (nowBeijing, capital of the Yuan dynasty). It was seen as an important event for the ruling Mongols royalty, an event to proclaim their participation of Chinese high arts.
Princess Sengge Ragi was the the great granddaughter of the Kublai Khan, and she was not the only royal member who participated this kind of event. Other important figures includes Jayaatu Khan, son-in-law of princess Ragi, and Toghon Temür, the last emperor of Yuan dynasty. This three figures all collected some important painting of the Song and Yuan dynasties.
This special exhibition will feature 43 paintings, mostly from Song and Yuan dynasties. Besides presenting the collections of the abovemention figures, the exhibition wish to further demonstrates the culture meaning and the significance of Mongol rulers' participation in Chinese high art. "
