Book Description |
The Bunun ethnic group (Takivatan) originally lived in the Danda River Basin in the upper reaches of Zhuoshui River in Xinyi Township, Nantou County. After independent migration and the colonial government's group resettlement policy, it is currently distributed in Dili Village, Xinyi Township, and Mayuan, Wanrong Township, Hualien County. Village, Zhuoxi Township and other villages. After the war, some tribesmen moved to the eastern coastal plain, including Nanxi in Changbin Township, Chimei in Ruisui Township and other places. Among them, the Mayuan tribe is the main settlement area of the Dan community. Compile historical materials on the migration process of the Dan community in this county and record the current status of the old community space of the Dan community in Hualien County. Through documents and field surveys, this article records the migration process of the Bunun Dan community from their ancestral home in Nantou to Mayuan, Hualien: their conflicts with the ruling regime, the hardships of migrating to a foreign land, and the pursuit and prospects of contemporary tribesmen.
